Our Trustees

Chairman – Musa Botan Mohammed:

Musa Botan has extensive experience in accounting, finance and banking sectors. He has sound knowledge of business realities and a track record of achieving or exceeding targets within both time and budget constraints. He has worked in Somalia and the Middle East and brings extensive experience in managing teams; negotiating contracts; dealing with insurance policies, premiums and claims; and he is experienced in assessing credit control systems.

Secretary – Hanan Ibrahim Omeradin:

Hanan is currently working as a Cultural Case Worker at The Child Development Services Waitemata District Health Board. Hanan majored in Psychology with other qualifications in English Language and Computer Studies from Auckland University of Technology. She has worked and made a significant contribution in Auckland to the refugee and migrant service such as New Al-Dawa Medical and with the Eritrean, African and other Muslim-background communities.

Treasurer – Abdulaziz Mohamud:

Abdulaziz came to settle in New Zealand in 2013 with his wife and children. He speaks English, Somali, Swahili and some Arabic. His background is in research. From 2008 to 2013 he was Assistant research manager with Trade Plus international Limited, Kenya, where he was engaged in identifying stratification of markets and developing baseline surveys for consumer feedback purposes. Prior to this he was Focus Group Facilitator for Next Development Ltd., Kenya, where he trained and supervised field researchers. From 2003 to 2005 he was senior Research and Field Officer: He carried research duties and data collection within East African borders: Djibouti and Ethiopia. Currently, he is completing a degree in International Business at Auckland University of Technology.

Trustee – Jiwaher Mohamed Awel:

Jiwaher has in depth experience of supporting Muslim families’ settlement in Auckland. She is fluent in Arabic, English, Amharic and Tigrigna. She has studied business administration and social work in New Zealand. With children enrolled in early childhood, primary and secondary schools in Auckland she understands what it takes to support children and youth of all ages through the New Zealand school system. Her work at the NZ Nejashi Trust study support programme funded by the Ministry of Education enhances her knowledge and skills in this fundamental settlement area.
